jaw.studio.ny is the creative design studio founded by award-winning scenic designer jason ardizzone-west in 2017, based in scarsdale ny, the studio designs sets, environments, and immersive spaces for theater, concerts, dance, film, tv, and more. recent and notable projects include lady gaga’s mayhem tour, redwood on broadway, jesus christ superstar (starring cynthia erivo in 2025 and john legend in 2018), dua lipa’s radical optimism tour, house of mcqueen, blood/love, monsoon wedding (off-broadway), hitchhiker’s guide to the galaxy - immersive, xg’s the core global tour, and much more.

  • jason ardizzone-west

    founder / principal designer

    after many years working as an architect and freelance set designer, jason founded jaw.studio.ny in 2017 to focus on designing storytelling spaces that span the mediums of theater, concerts, dance, film/tv, immersive, opera and architecture.  

    working in a diverse range of scales from intimate black box theaters to stadiums, jason and his team create embracing environments that transform storytelling into shared human experiences.  jason brings an innate understanding of space, light, time, and dramaturgy to designs, crafting visual narratives through collaboration that bridge the physical and emotional landscapes of performance.

    jason earned a bachelor of architecture from cornell university’s college of architecture, art & planning and a master of fine arts in stage & film design from new york university.  he is a proud member of united scenic artists, local 829.

  • sean sanford

    associate designer

    sean is a new york city based designer and 3d artist whose work combines craft, technology, and storytelling.  with a background in fine art, performance, and props, sean approaches design with technical precision grounded in emotional and spatial awareness and specializes in 3d modeling, rendering, and drafting using vectorworks and cinema 4d.

    in 2023, sean became the first full-time associate at jaw studio, and has been a lead associate on immersive experiences, global concert tours, regional, off-broadway, and broadway productions.  through the use of digital modeling, rendering, and drafting, sean collaborates closely with directors and creative teams, and helps manage the studio’s team of designers - balancing creative development with practical logistics.

    sean holds dual degrees in theater and psychology from umass amherst, where he received the rising researcher award in recognition of his accomplishments and potential for continued leadership in the field of scenic design.

  • emma antenen

    associate designer

    emma antenen (she/her) is a scenic designer currently based in brooklyn, ny who works as an associate on a wide array of projects including broadway, off-broadway, regional theatre, touring, and international productions.  

    emma started working with jaw studio in 2018 with a passion to bring intricate and detailed designs to life.  using a dynamic set of skills as well as a love for collaborative environments, she helps push the boundaries of visual storytelling.  prior to joining jaw studio full time in 2025, emma worked on broaday productions: gypsy, how to dance in ohio, tammy faye, and i need that.  in her spare time, she can be found biking around town, dancing, and hanging out with her partner and their adorable cat.

    emma is a proud member of united scenic artists, local 829 and received her bachelor of fine arts in theatre design and technology from syracuse university.

  • ethan brown

    associate designer

    born on cape cod and only partially domesticated, ethan was introduced to theatrical design by a mad high school teacher.  now an amateur illustrator who’s briefly flirted with window display design, he’s been making theater (in some form) for nearly twenty years.  he might grow up at some point, but it doesn’t seem to have happened yet. 

    ethan first started working with jaw studio in 2019 and holds a bachelor of fine arts from savannah college of art and design as well as a masters of fine arts in stage & film design from new york university.

  • fan yu

    assistant designer

    fan yu is a production designer working across film, theatre, opera, and live events.  her work is inspired by felliniesque dreamscapes and spatial storytelling.  originally from china, fan has a bachelor of architecture and a master of fine arts in design for

    stage and film from new york university tisch.  her production design works have been selected in palm springs shortfest 2025, hollyshorts film festival 2025, brooklyn film festival 2025, new hampshire film festival 2024, etc.  fan’s architecture and installation projects have been in a parallel exhibition to the 2023 venice biennale and the 2024 valmiera theater festival, latvia.

    fan joined jaw studio in 2025.

  • emily tucker

    assistant designer / project coordinator

    tucker is a nyc based multidisciplinary production and scenic designer with a background in live performance and visual art. as a former trapeze artist of over ten years (most-notably with cirque du soleil) emily builds worlds that expose magic within the mundane. 

    with experience in kinetic theatre, dance, and contemporary circus, she creates fully embodied spaces and specializes in custom acrobatic equipment. her work has been exhibited at various international arts festivals in belgium, canada, germany, italy, lithuania, netherlands, new york, spain, and switzerland. 

    tucker holds an mfa from nyu tisch school of the arts, where she began designing commercials, shorts, and feature films.

    her approach to crafting transformational worlds is emotive and intuitive, drawn to stories of beloved, wacky, wild-hearted outsiders - because it takes one to know one.

  • aryana piros

    studio coordinator / design assistant

    aryana recently received her bachelor of fine arts from new york university with focuses in scenic design and stage management. she is an emerging theatre designer and stage manager who is passionate about storytelling, world-building, collaboration, and the behind-the-scenes magic that brings productions to life. she uses her range of skills in artistry and management and combines them to create inspiring work flows for the productions she is a part of.

    she joined jaw studio in 2026 as the studio coordinator and design assistant and looks forward to what the future of the company holds. in her free time she loves spending time with friends, seeing theatre and movies, trying new foods, and spending time with animals.
